STEP 3
Tenants must carry renters' insurance for the full lease term, with at least $20,000 to $30,000 in personal property coverage, $100,000 in liability coverage, and a $500 to $1,000 deductible.
Loss of use coverage is recommended.
Proof of coverage is due before move-in.
WHAT IT COVERS
Your personal belongings (furniture, electronics, clothing), liability if someone is injured in your unit, and temporary living costs if the property becomes uninhabitable. The landlord's insurance does not cover your stuff ,only yours can.
You can get a policy through Lemonade, State Farm, Allstate, or any licensed provider.
When you get your policy, make sure the property address is listed as the covered location.
You'll submit proof of coverage before your move-in date.
